In an effort to fight the opioid crisis and to help physicians and other health care providers meet state CME requirements for pain management, Rockpointe is offering 3 hours of CME in three sessions on Developing an Effective Treatment Plan: Opioid and Nonopioid-based Treatment Options for Acute and Chronic Pain Management – Meeting State Pain CE Requirements. The fall Medical Education Exchange (MEDX) Primary Care 2018 Conferences are to be held Sept. 29-30 in Atlanta, GA; Oct. 20-21 in Long Beach, CA; and Nov. 17-18 in Dallas/Fort Worth, TX, and registration is now open. In close collaboration with local universities, the two-day CME conference series is designed to inform the community-based primary care team – including physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants – about the latest developments in a wide range of topics. MEDX Conferences offer 16.5 hours of CME credit, including AMA PRA 1, and AAFP credit participants can also qualify for American Board of Internal Medicine Maintenance of Certification hours. The conferences will be broadcast in real time via Internet on for those unable to attend in person.

“We are grateful to be able to offer this portion of the program free of charge to help clinicians fight the opioid crisis,” said Thomas Sullivan, Rockpointe President. “Clinicians are helped when better informed on when to use and not to use opioids and what other alternatives there are for their patients.”

The conferences’ 12 sessions offer participants the opportunity to earn as many as 16.5 CME credits, including ABIM MOC points and AAFP-prescribed credits. Presented by top clinical experts, sessions cover topics such as AFib, COPD, lipids, diabetes, clinical guidelines, opioids, and using medical apps and technologies.   Attendees of Sessions 10-12 on Day 2 will be able to fulfill respective State Opioid CME requirements

Previous participants have lauded the relevance of the topics – “Thrilled that MACRA was discussed. Finally a conference that included a topic that 100% impacts the doctors’ lives in every way,” said one attendee – and the sessions’ engaging, interactive live format – “I really enjoyed the iPad and how it kept you involved in the presentations,” said another. “I loved being able to ask a question on the iPad rather than write it down and drop it off.”

MEDX continuing medical education conferences align with National Quality Strategy (NQS) priorities, which provide the framework for the triple aim of better care and better health at a lower cost. MEDX partners with two organizations that will certify activities at its regional CME conferences: Potomac Center for Medical Education (PCME) and Boston University School of Medicine (BU).

Through effective continuing medical education, Rockpointe strives to improve and advance the quality of patient care. Its educational programs have been at the forefront of new issues in healthcare, including implementing MACRA, combatting the nation’s opioid crisis, and utilizing technical advances that improve care. As part of its commitment to quality, Rockpointe works to inform the continuing-education community of significant quality-improvement issues through news and analysis on Policy and Medicine. In addition, its popular (MEDX) CME regional meetings include sessions on the basics of quality improvement and alternative payment models, as well as relevant and scientifically accurate sessions on numerous disease states. At Rockpointe, education equals quality.
